This email encourages subscribers to enter a Facebook contest. Readers simply click on the call to action and can enter the contest on the company’s Facebook page. By sending an email about the contest, there are several benefits:
- You’re creating a buzz around your brand
- People love freebies
- You’re cross-promoting your brand via email and social media
- You’ll increase your social media followers
3. Destination Maternity Runs “Journey” Campaign
Why we love it
This email coincides with the weekly needs of a mother-to-be. Each email goes on the “journey” with the customer. At 13 weeks when an expectant mother is having trouble fitting into her regular pants, an email appears in her inbox that offers a solution.
Marketers want to tap into the needs of their customers and this kind of email does so on a specific, weekly basis. Tap into your customer base and figure out their buying journey and send emails that match their needs.
4. BuzzFeed Depends on Humor
Why we love it
Marketers gravitate towards promotional emails and newsletters, but the unsung hero of the inbox is the content email. The email above is sent with the sole purpose of getting the subscriber to read the full article on the BuzzFeed website. You’ll notice this particular email uses a humorous headline to encourage people to read more. Consider promoting your high quality via email.

This email has a “Refer a Friend” button in the top right corner. Marketers tend to overlook the power of referrals. What better way to get increase referrals than through email? By placing a simple button on your next email, you could add more names to your email list.
6. True Citrus Drips Information
Why we love it
A drip campaign is an excellent email marketing tool. A drip campaign sends emails to a specific section of your email list over the course of time. Essentially, you’re dripping information to these subscribers, much like a dripping faucet. This particular drip campaign is aimed at inactive customers. Using the emails above, True Citrus is able to clean up its email list.
